Potica is a Slovene pastry which traditionally appears on tables on holidays. It was first mentioned by Primož Trubar as povitica in 1575, the first recipe for it was written in 1689 by Janez Vajkard Valvasor in the Glory of the Duchy of Carniola, where the potica is mentioned as a thinly rolled dough with walnut stuffing with honey. Today we know more than 120 types of potica,  "slovenska potica has been protected since 2018 - Traditional Speciality Guaranteed, 5 potica varieties have been protected and their specialty is stuffing and baking in a potičnik baking pan.
