"Slovenian cultural heritage is a treasure chest"

"With Slocks socks, you want to bring Slovenian cultural heritage closer to a wider audience. How well do Slovenians know their own cultural heritage?
Slovenians have a great love for heritage and traditions, but only those that we know and have been taught. I cannot say that we know it very well, because we know it too little and do not encounter it often, most frequently during holidays and other milestones that are more traditionally oriented.

Many times I found myself in a situation where the answer to what is a Slovenian national dish or a Slovenian dish was: stuffed peppers, sarma, Vipava jota, dödole or just Kranjska klobasa. People most often choose what we are informed is Slovenian, only Kranjska klobasa, or that potica is the most sacred dessert, often the answers were very local and regional or completely off the mark. Despite the internet age, we have too little information that would be focused on local, regional, or simply the area of Slovenia; global products appear, renaming more "traditional" things into more modern versions with a marketing story; by this, I mean the reinvention of ghee butter, which comes from India, but it is cooked butter that we also knew in Slovenia, yet only today has it acquired healing connotations and come into fashion. In the age of McDonaldization, foreign is more fashionable and important, but it is felt that local is gaining significance.

With slocksice, I try to ensure that the story of the elements is also recorded; I already have quite a diverse palette, not only in terms of colors, wine stories – Cviček, Rebula, Teran, honey socks dedicated to World Bee Day, Kranjska klobasa and potica, and in cooperation with the Idrija Lace School and Idrija tourism, socks with Idrija lace were created..."
