IDRIJA LACE

  The socks are available in red and dark blue, in all sizes, and can be ordered on our website and the website of the Idrija Lace School.

For the motif, we chose the HEART, which the Idrija Tourism Board uses for its logo in combination with the new corporate identity of Idrija. IDRIJA and a period.


The colors red and dark blue were used as a background that imitates velvet, on which Idrija lace and its artistry are presented. Of course, the Idrija lace depicted on the sock only imitates real Idrija lace and indicates how it can appear as a pattern on everyday objects, but only one is the real
Idrija lace, through which true knowledge and a form of art and heritage of lacemakers flow or are woven.

The label features the pattern depicted on the sock or hinted at, and the story of Idrija lace:

"Idrija has always been considered an important center of lacemaking knowledge, from where the skill of designing and creating bobbin lace artworks spread around the world.
With centuries of work in this field, it has made a name for itself and gained a place on the European map of lacemaking centers.
Its lace has established itself as a recognizable type of handmade bobbin lace, which has technologically and aesthetically developed over time, changing and adapting to market needs, which has led to its exceptional richness and diversity. Today, based on traditional knowledge, innovative products are being developed in Idrija that place Idrija lace in modern trends of fashion and handicrafts. While respecting tradition, the lace motif from Idrija also appears on our socks with youthful approaches."

The story is so important because it educates people, they learn interesting facts and details about the depicted element and can share them further. We can say that "tradition" is thus passed on in a different way, perhaps the approach through new communication channels - "sustainable fashion" - is one that will reach a wider audience.
